UBS backing for European Athletics in 2014
UBS will sponsor the 2014 European Athletics Championships in Zurich.
The financial services company joins Spar, Omega, Le Gruyère and Eurovision as a top-tier 'international partner' of the event. Their support will extend to events around the championships, such as the UBS Kids Cup, with the intention of promoting youth sport. Furthermore, UBS will sponsor the Swiss national team, with its logo appearing on official competition uniforms.
Thomas Ackermann, the head of marketing for UBS, said: "The championships represent an excellent opportunity to add to our long-term commitment to athletics, and to help inspire people with this wonderful sport."
The European Athletics Champions have switched from a four-year to a two-year cycle, alternating with the IAAF World Athletics Championships. The 2014 event will be preceded by a 2012 edition in Helsinki and followed by Amsterdam in 2016.
