Tesco Mobile signs up to sponsor National Family Week
Tesco Mobile will be the headline sponsor of the Family Week Sports Day, which will encompass a Guinness World Record attempt during National Family Week in the UK.
The budget mobile network is sponsoring Family Week Sports Day, one of a number of initiatives taking place as part of National Family Week, which runs from 31 May to 6 June. Family Week Sports Day, to be held on 5 June, will feature nine large-scale events around the country and many other local events including soccer taster sessions, rugby festivals, cycling circuits and more. Amongst them will be an attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the world's largest three-legged race.
"Sport is a really important part of a child's development, to keep them fit, active and social," said National Family Week supporter and former England captain, Gary Lineker. "I am in full support of National Family Week if it helps encourage families to get out and play some sports together."
National Family Week and Family Week Sports Day are backed by the UK government, and aim to encourage UK families to spend more time together and live healthy active lifestyles. More than 5,000 events will be held across the UK.
National Family Week, now in its second year, is the largest coalition on family issues in the UK. Tesco Mobile joins other supporting brands including Pizza Hut, Vue Cinemas and Paramount Pictures. In addition, more than 200 charities and not-for-profit organisations back the initiative.
