Q8 joins Omega Pharma at Quick Step
Q8, Kuwait's national oil company, has signed on as a sponsor of the Omega Pharma-Quick Step cycling team.
The petroleum company was previously a sponsor of the Omega Pharma-Lotto team and has travelled with the Belgian pharmaceuticals company to the new team, the Belgian Lotto having decided to set up its own squad independently for next season.
While financial details have not been released, it is believed Q8, which has been a cycling team sponsor for seven consecutive years, was satisfied with its logo positioning on the back of the Omega Pharma-Lotto jerseys last season.
“Q8 is a prestigious international partner,” said Omega Pharma-Quick Step team manager Patrick Lefevere. “We're proud that such an important company supports our project and believes in cycling as a promotional tool for their brand.”
“Pro cycling has always been very exciting to us," said Gerrit Ruitinga, Q8's managing director for northwestern Europe. "This sport is filled with great efforts, teamwork, experience, emotions and unique races. These are characteristics the Q8 brand strongly identifies with.”
