OrangeGas become green sponsors of FC Groningen
Dutch soccer team FC Groningen has announced a new sponsorship deal with OrangeGas, firmly consolidating the club’s 2010 priority of environmental sustainability
Whilst the value and duration of the contract have not been disclosed, OrangeGas will be entitled to a visible presence within the Euroborg Stadium at the team’s home games, and will actively organise events with the club throughout the multi-year deal.
FC Groningen has the ambition to become Europe’s ‘greenest’ club and already have a number of green partners including Bam Infra, GasTerra and Dutch Gasunie. Participating organisations have joined forces to create the Energy Valley Top Club, which works in conjunction with the football club, organising events and football to bring energy innovations to public attention.
OrangeGas produces environmentally friendly fuel, and has over fifty completely green gas stations in the Netherlands and Belgium.
The Dutch club are currently sitting sixth in the Eredivisie, comfortably in a Europa League qualifying position for the 2011/12 season, and look on course to improve on their 8th place finish last year.
