ICC announces 2012-15 Champions Trophy hosts
The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced the hosts for the Champions Trophy from 2012 to 2015. Sri Lanka will be the host in 2012, England in 2013 and Bangladesh in 2014. Australia and New Zealand will jointly host the 2015 event.
It marks the first time Bangladesh will host its own tournament. England has held the competition before, in 2004, when the hosts were beaten by West Indies in the final.
It was also announced that the use of the umpire review system in next year's World Cup has been provisionally approved.
“We have all seen the benefits of using DRS to assist umpires in Test cricket and we are now keen to use DRS in the ICC Cricket World Cup,” ICC chief executive Haroon Lorgat said. “We also acknowledge and we are grateful for the support provided by broadcasters and technology suppliers around the world during the development phase of DRS.”
