Harlequins finally get some good news

27 August 2009 | Posted in Sponsorship, Rugby | By Adam Fraser

Harlequins, the English rugby union club currently embroiled in the fake blood scandal which erupted when player Tom Williams was found guilty of fabricating a cut to his mouth, has finally received some good news with the signing of two new sponsors.

Samsung Mobile will back the team over the next season, while technical and engineering recruitment specialists Wynnwith will support Harlequins for three years. Samsung will become the club's official handset supplier, while Wynnwith's logo will appear on the back of the team's shirts for the next three years. The company will also receive significant branding around the club's stadium.

"Our partnership with Harlequins is a new and exciting venture for Samsung Mobile and gives us the perfect platform to launch a comprehensive, innovative and stylish range of SmartPhones into the B2B marketplace," said Mark Mitchinson, vice-president, Samsung Mobile UK and Ireland. "We're also excited about supporting one of the UK's most successful English rugby clubs and believe that our brand will resonate with their affluent fan base."

Julian Morison, Wynnwith chief executive, said: "The Wynnwith Group is an ambitious and fast growing company which wanted to raise its profile in its markets, with its candidates and with the financial community. The decision to sponsor such a successful and recognised brand like Harlequins RFC provided Wynnwith with an opportunity to further build its brand and be associated with an organisation with the same values and goals. Wynnwith are proud to be an official sponsor of Harlequins and look forward to what will be a mutually beneficial relationship."
