Telecommunications company Alcatel One Touch has been announced as a major corporate partner of National Rugby League (NRL) team South Sydney Rabbitohs.

The one-year deal sees the logo of the global mobile phone and internet company appearing on the back of the Rabbitohs' playing shorts throughout the duration of the 2012 NRL season.

Though financial detail were not released, based on agreements of a similar nature Alactel's commitment to the Rabbitohs is estimated to be worth roughly US$60,000.

“Our shorts sponsorship property was the final piece of our major sponsorships puzzle and really happy to have Alcatel One Touch come on board with us for 2012,” said Rabbitohs chief executive Shane Richardson. "We want to align ourselves with the best in the business when it comes to our corporate partners and we have done that again by partnering with Alcatel One Touch for our playing shorts."

Alactel One Touch regional managing director Sam Skontos added, "Alacatel One Touch is impressed with the technological progress that the Rabbitohs have made, especially in the area of social networking and database marketing. The passion and commitment of the loyal and faithful Rabbitohs supporters is very attractive to Alacatel One Touch as our brand is synonymous with these values. With one of the largest membership bases and similarly high levels of television viewer popularity, teaming up with the Rabbitohs is the best way to create the brand awareness and recognition that we desire.”

Other sponsors of the Rabbitohs in 2012 include The Star, De’Longhi, Kenwood, and Afex.
